Uber Black requirements
Uber Black connects passengers with highly-rated drivers who operate premium, high-end vehicles at a higher cost. Whether heading to a business meeting or enjoying a special evening, customers trust Uber Black to deliver a top-tier, five-star experience.
Vehicles
Only certain vehicle brands and models are eligible for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV services. The vehicle must be no more than 5 years old. Additionally, it must have a black exterior and a black interior featuring either leather or vegan leather upholstery.
Ratings
To qualify for Uber Black, drivers must have a minimum rating of 4.85 or higher. This rating is calculated based on the driver’s last 500 trips that received a star rating.
Documents
Drivers operating with Uber Black must hold professional driver status, possess commercial auto insurance (personal car insurance is not acceptable), and obtain all necessary permits mandated by their city to legally operate a commercial livery vehicle in their region.
How to Get Uber Black Trips
Your vehicle must qualify for Uber Black.
You need to maintain a 4.85+ driver rating.
Flexible Driving Options
When you’re active, you can choose to receive only Uber Black trip requests or also accept UberX and UberXL rides.
Rating Requirement
To continue driving with Uber Black, you must keep a 4.85 or higher rating. If your rating drops below 4.85, it will be reviewed again after your next 50 trips for potential requalification.
Your rating is based on your last 500 rated trips
Includes all completed trips (Uber Black, Uber Black SUV, UberX, UberXL, etc.)
Canceled rides do not affect your rating

Since your rating is an average of your most recent 500 trips, consistently earning 5-star ratings will help improve your overall score. The more high-rated trips you complete, the more your rating will increase.
How Your Uber Black Rating Works

Regaining Uber Black Access
If your rating drops below 4.85, you’ll have an opportunity to requalify. After every 50 trips, we’ll reassess your eligibility based on your most recent 500 trips. If your average rating meets or exceeds 4.85, you’ll regain access to Uber Black trips.
